Fort Mill ACT Scores Lead K-12 Districts in the State
Posted on 10/19/2018

The Fort Mill School District Class of 2018 exceeded the state and national averages on ACT exams administered in the spring of 2018. The average composite score for all South Carolina seniors was 18.3, and the national average composite score is 20.8. The average composite score for seniors in the Fort Mill School District is 21.1. The Composite Score is reported on a 1-36 scale.

This is the fifth consecutive year Fort Mill School District seniors have posted a higher average composite ACT score than all K-12 school districts in the state. Only the South Carolina Governor’s School scored higher.

“I am very pleased with the academic performance made by our high school class of 2018, highlighted by the most recent ACT score report for the state,” said Superintendent Chuck Epps.  “Our students’ high achievement on the ACT provides our administration valuable feedback on college readiness, curriculum standards, and our students’ ability to perform well in a rigorous educational environment. The credit for this achievement belongs to our high school teachers and staff.”

The ACT is a four-hour long exam that tests students in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Reading, and Writing. It is a required South Carolina assessment, administered to all high school juniors; therefore, these statistics may differ from those in state and federal accountability results. Scores provide information on college readiness and are used by many colleges and universities during the admissions process.
